St.Jude Collaborates With Microsoft HealthVault

I have covered quite a bit about implanted devices that now send text messages as well.  One more good reason for a HealthVault account if you have an implanted device.  BD

St. Jude Medical Inc. received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a pair of wireless-ready pacemakers. image

Little Canada-based St. Jude (NYSE:STJ) said the new pacemakers — called the Accent RF pacemaker and Anthem RF CRT-P (for cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemakers) — are can wirelessly communicate with a programmer used by the clinician or a home monitor. Wireless communication is used when clinicians implant the device and during follow-up appointments, which can be performed in the clinic or via remote monitoring from the patient’s home.
